WOMEN ARISING
On October 9th of this year I had the privilege of being the opening keynote presenter at “Women Arising,” a 3-day women only, sold out, conference in Sedona, Arizona. The venue was in the ballroom at world-famous Enchantment Resort, nestled in the grand red rocks – or should I say mountains – of Boynton Canyon, which remains today one of the most sacred spot on earth for Native Americans. Needless-to-say, we had the natural energy around us to match the spiritual energy created by all who gathered at the conference.
I arrived half an hour before the beginning of the Conference for a microphone check. There was no way to lace the lapel mike up through my dress and also no way to clip it on the clothing I wore that day, so hand-held mike it was.
Just before 9:00 AM, I thought I would be cautious and go to the washroom before I was called to the dais. When I came back into the ballroom, I heard the MC in the middle of my introduction. I used hand language to ask, “Is that me?” The nod came, and up I went.
There was a podium and a comfortable chair I could speak from, but neither felt right. Since I get very animated when I speak, wave my hands, and fling my arms around, I felt more comfortable standing.
At one point the person keeping time put up the small chalk board to say, MOVE FORWARD. I did, but certainly didn’t want to get too close to the edge of the dais, since this summer I fell and broke a bone in my foot, and say nix to doing that again. (Yes, I do know why I fell. I did willingly create this accident to get out of a trip I didn’t want to go on and to take what I felt was a long overdue need to just “put my feet up” for a time.)
It was only after the talk that I was told I was so close to the candle on the stage table that they thought my shawl would catch fire. Wouldn’t that have been something! Talk about making an impression (The woman is on fire!). I was, but inwardly only.
Speaking to such amazing women – each and every one of them – about “Learnings from a Service-driven Life” brought out such a heart power within me and within the women. What a love affair.
I was given the signal. Time’s up. Now move on to your 20 minute meditation. What? Time’s up?? You have got to be kidding! I have only begun! There is so much more I have to say! How can time pass so quickly? I swear it felt like five minutes. Guess that’s what happens when you are caught up in the Now.
The meditation – well really not a meditation – that’s a misnomer: a miracle experiment I led the group in was a modification of one from Namaste Publishing’s latest publication MAKING MIRACLES: Creating New Realities for Your Life and Our World. It was an initiation into claiming our own spiritual power. For how can one serve humanity without tapping into and knowing they have the spiritual power within to do so?
I gifted all there with a free copy of this book, which arrived from the printer just in time to have them shipped to Sedona for this purpose.
After my presentation I was greeted with such honoring and love. I kept telling the women who gave me such spoken accolades, such loving embraces by eye and arms, that they could only see in me what they already are within themselves, that I was only a mirror of their beautiful souls.
I came back from Sedona with a clear “knowing” that I wanted to make time in my life to speak to all women audiences again. The beautiful Madonna energy, the energy that is so needed on the planet right now, is what I want to cultivate and bathe myself in.
