PART 2, Section 3: How Does Our Inner Knower Talk to Us?

What distinguishes the voice of our inner knower from the voice in our head which we call “thinking?”

Our inner knower always directs us in a way that’s for our own good. Because the inner knower is aware of everything at all times, it can access and provide us with just what we need to know when we need to know it.

We can know when an answer comes from our inner knower because it evokes no fear in us, just acceptance. There is a sense of deep peace that we are on the right track. There's no uncertainty in the knowing, no further questioning, no room for doubt or hesitation.

If we are guided by our inner knower to take action, it will be appropriate action, carried out with grace and ease. Any action we take will lead to wholeness or some other positive outcome, not only for ourselves but for all concerned.

The Importance of Asking Questions

Just as we can’t win the lottery without buying a ticket, we can’t get answers from our inner knower unless we ask it questions. “Ask and you will receive” is the key.

Questions are powerful—and most powerful when they are addressed to our inner knower. Ask for guidance, for answers, and to know what the best solution in a particular situation is.

Once you have asked, let the question go. Then wait with confidence that the answer will come at the perfect time.

If possible, go into stillness immediately or shortly after you pose your question to your inner knower. In that stillness, just listen. In other words, become like a radio receiver. You may not receive your answer at the time. However, this extra step of going into stillness will assist you with becoming attuned to your inner knower so that you are ready to receive the information when it's given, ensuring you don't carelessly miss it.

When we go within and pose a question or make a request for guidance, sometimes the answer comes instantly or shortly thereafter. At other times, we must be patient. At such times, we need to wait, to listen, and to watch—but not with any kind of “begging” or agonizing. This is the kind of waiting that’s restful, trustful. There's no anxiety at all.

Why watch? Because our inner knower often speaks to us not only through the still inner voice, but also through things that happen in our life—people we encounter, what they say to us, incidents that occur, repetitive occurrences, synchronicity, or “signs” that may come to us from varied sources including nature.

The more we ask of our inner knower, the more we develop our inner ears to hear its voice—and the more confident we become in living our life from the inside out, as it was always meant to be lived.

Such security is especially helpful in these times of confusion and great uncertainty. With the widespread availability of information through various forms of media and the worldwide web, never before have there been so many outside voices competing for our attention, and never before have they seemed to be more varied and conflicting.

Ask your inner knower for discernment. In the past, we used to have to discern a piece of yarn in the tapestry of our life that just didn’t belong there. But in these times, we may need to discern a thread of finest silk in that same tapestry.

If you don’t yet make use of your inner knower, start by experimenting with it in some small aspect of your life. You may want to begin by asking for help with simple things such as finding your glasses or your car keys. Then ask it if there is anything in a serial dream you have been having over several months that would be helpful for you to “see.” Ask for help in writing a paper for your English Literature class, then wait for the inspiration to flow.

When you bring a large life issue to your inner knower, such as whether you are to leave a marriage or change career, you will likely have to “sit” with your question for some time—perhaps until the situation changes and the question is no longer relevant, or until you are ready to hear the guidance because it's different from what you were hoping for.

In such a situation, it’s also possible the guidance you need will be given in stages, not all at once. We are guided one step at a time, as we actually require the guidance. This is because our inner knower never reveals anything that may cause us fear. It always knows what we are ready to accept at any particular time.

Opportunity for Self-inquiry and Sharing

A.  Intentionally ask your inner knower several sincere questions. Then be open to receive the answers. Later, share your experience in doing this. Did the answers come? How did they come?

this is such a GREAT post! these paras were revealing to me:

I asked my inner k/Now/er this question; How can I always connect, and receive it’s wisdom, and guidance ? The answer was 3 simple requirements: 1. Be Thought-Free 2. Be connected to your Chakra Energy. 3. Be in the Now. The Key to accomplishing all 3 is How, and Where you direct your Attention. Pay Attention to your Attention.
What does k/Now, k/Now/ing, k/Now/ledge, and inner k/Now/er share . . . Now ! Where you will find; all truth, wisdom, and guidance.

Odin,
Your comment is very interesting. As a new comer to this arena please help me:
How did you receive this 3 step answer. Did the three part answer emerge one by one in your thoughts? How are you sure this is not your own answer, but the answer from the inner knower?

I personally am confused. I asked the question as directed above. It seemed to me that the answer came since I got guidance from a movie that I was watching later. The guidance seemed clear, seemed good for all involved and I was firm on it. But the guidance required particular way for things to turn out, but the circumstances did not work out that way. So my conclusion was the guidance must be from my own thoughts. Now another answer seems to have emerged. It also seems to fulfill all requirements in the narrative above. How can I be sure that the guidance is from inner knower, not me?

Hello new,
Thank you for your questions.

1. How did you receive this 3 step answer. Did the three part answer emerge one by one in your thoughts?
Answer:I asked the question before sleep, and receive the answers in the morning. They where just in mind ,,, I did not engage in any thought about it but wrote the answer in a note book as given.
2. How are you sure this is not your own answer, but the answer from the inner knower ?
Answer: It is a feeling I get first, and then the thoughts appear, I did not think about it they just appeared in mind, and I say Aha, that’s it. I have been developing a relationship with my inner k/Now/er for several years, and as Ms. Hinton states:”The more we ask of our inner knower, the more we develop our inner ears to hear its voice—and the more confident we become in living our life from the inside out, as it was always meant to be lived.”

This is very true, Over the years that I have been evolving, and refining this relationship (I call it The Partnership of One), trust, and confidence develops as the truth of the guidance reveals itself. Initially, their was a great deal of doubt; and the question you ask here is the same question I posed to myself many times. I can only tell you that first it’s a feeling, and then the guidance is just there in you mind, it is often a surprise.

What I have experienced is that the guidance may just offer you one possibility, if you doubt it don't act on it, it may not always be the best; it depends on how you asked the question, and the immediate circumstances. Remember that our mind can, and often distorts the guidance...the guidance comes to us first as a feeling, an intuition then the brain coverts this energy-form into thoughts, and this is where the distortion takes place. If you understand this you may want to ask the question several times, and wait for that feeling, that intuition, that surprise, that Aha, that’s it. I hope this has been helpful to you. It is definitely worth the effort to reestablish that lost relationship with our inner k/Now/er.

OdinSky-Od,

Love your comment: Asking is a Better Way of Thinking.

Has not worked yet. Based on the helpful comments, trying is the wrong way. So let me see if relaxing into it will work. Thanks for the comments.

The answers come when I lest expect it. It seems that they appear when I am at rest, first thing in the morning, or when I just completed a task, and I am not thinking about anything; more often my inner k/Now/er communicates with me-Ego when I am doing my pyramid-energy balancing, it’s a time that I am experiencing, and directing my Chi throughout me-Ego Body. The answers just seem to appear in mind, and I find myself saying Aha ! Or just laughing because some of the answers show the folly of the question. The answers maybe from questions asked days or weeks past.

We're off to meet the day, allowing it To Be, enjoying it in every way,
Surprise, Surprise; what a wonderful way to meet life each day. This is how I start each day; and I often am amazed, and grateful at the surprises that are presented to me. I set my awareness for the day, and it returns with dividends.

The key in all of this really is relaxing into it. It's there already. It was the hardest thing for me to get clear that everything I needed was being supplied, without my agonizing over it. In other words, it was really the stopping of all "efforting" that did the trick. And that's the hard part: to relax and allow ourselves just to be. Your sincere heart is going to open up all of this to you, until it's second nature. Actually, we discover that's it's our original nature! The effortless flow of being is our most natural way of living.

Thanks, David. I think your comment about effortless flow of being may be the key. I should let go of all resistance by the mind.

Thanks for this clear explanation. I am trying.

Pittsburg,

I agree with David. Your pure heart and your intention for spiritual awareness will open all up for you.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am also sure that it will happen. It is just a matter of time and the time is only needed for removal of obstacles I myself have put in the way.

One clear sign of impending success is how I have landed at this wonderful web site where there are so many who are ready to help others. Thanks for setting it up, Constance.
